Make up tips by Leigh Blaney
HI My name is Leigh and I’m a fully qualified professional makeup artist, trained in all aspects of makeup but specialise in wedding makeup. I have over 10 years experience in the wedding industry and have loved every single minute of it. Being invited to share this special day with you, your family and friends is an honour and I’m there joining in with the tears and laughter on the wedding morning with you all. Since beginning my business I have been nominated for 10 awards, winning Makeup Artist of the Year 3 times. I’ve also been listed as one of the top 50 UK bridal makeup artists on go.hen.com.
I regularly write beauty articles and tips for the 2 top Scottish wedding magazines, Scottish wedding directory and tie the knot scotland. I am also one of their editorial makeup artists and frequently go on location shooting for front cover and themed editorials for the magazine issues.
I am based in Glasgow but travel throughout Scotland to the venue to be with you for all wedding prep. I have travelled to Venice and Majorca for weddings so available to travel further if required.
From natural, pretty classic bridal looks to something a bit more dramatic or glamorous, we can work together to get your ideal chosen look. Ideally you want to look and feel your very best. Finding a balance of looking amazing up close to your guests, wearing enough that the photos look great and making sure it lasts all day through to night is what I can achieve for you.
MY TOP TIPS WOULD BE:
Do the emotional stuff the night before!! Get the tears out... so you’re all cried out for the morning. Cards? Pressies? By the morning, there’s a nice calmness and you’re ready to party.
Don’t panic and start going for random new treatments just before the big day? Keep your skin balanced and it’s normal routine. Think ahead! Don’t put yourself at risk with anything you could be allergic to or have a reaction to. Drink plenty of water, try for your 8 hours of sleep a night. Relax!!
If you are thinking of making changes to your skin regime? Start a year to the wedding. Book in and see a skin specialist and follow their advice. Your getting the correct information with plenty of time for your skin to adjust.
Have fun and relax! Watch wedding movies, go for massage, enjoy the build up with social events around it. Don’t sweat the small stuff!! All this organising and expense? Don’t let some rain spoil it!? I’m biased obviously but as long as you look good (see me ) and your beloved is waiting on you... the rest is just sprinkles on the top
